Current geopolitical and economic environment impact upon business

During our 25 June 2026 webcast, we asked an audience of almost 1,050 business executives across the world and multiple industries how the current geopolitical and economic environment was impacting their organizations. Here’s what they had to say:

Geopolitical conflict has become a persistent feature of the global operating environment

      46%

reported the geopolitical conflict has caused moderate or major disruption to their organizations

      Key takeaway:

Geopolitical risks should no longer be treated as episodic disruptions. They should become a standing feature of strategic planning, capital allocation, supply chain design, technology adoption, and enterprise resilience.

      Outlooks diverge on growth prospects

32% said the growth outlook for their companies had worsened vs 32% improved, but 35% reported no change

      Key takeaway:

Growth is becoming more regional, with resilience now a key driver rather than broad global momentum. Panelists noted that growth remains solid or strong in the US and Asia Pacific.

      Key takeaways:

Markets have avoided a full crisis so far due to demand destruction, shifting consumption patterns and stock drawdowns, but July and August may be key pressure points. Companies should consider stress testing operations for sustained energy disruption, not just short shocks.

*Disruption of more than 6 months

Trade policy is a persistent source of concern

      Top 3 trade-policy-related risks
      1. Supply chain disruption
      2. Tariffs
      3. Regulatory divergence

      Key takeaways:

From trade routes to policy shifts, many supply chains face continued strain and adaptation. As trade fragments, a growing number of companies are redesigning supply chains around political alignment, regional resilience and access to critical technologies, not just cost efficiency. Border and trade frictions are likely here to stay, making supply chain visibility and supplier traceability critical.
